Assistant Digital Media Archivist Intern

Purpose of Job

  • Provide support for the tracking and importation of digital assets (videos, photos, etc.) into RIF's Digital Asset Management (DAM) system.
  • Provide communications and marketing support for current RIF campaigns.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Reference RIF Digital Asset Inventory tracking document to locate and track RIF digital assets to be imported into DAM system.
  • Regularly log into and import assigned list(s) of digital assets into DAM system.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Education: Working towards BA/BS degree in Communications, Marketing, Digital Media Development, and or Library Sciences preferred.
  • Prior customer service and general business office experience desired.
  • Ability to set appropriate priorities, respond to changes, and demonstrate flexibility in dealing with daily demands.
  • Proficient with computer operations and data entry experience specifically with Excel, Word, content management systems (CMS), and digital asset management systems.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills to support team efforts and needs of the organization.
  • Oriented towards accuracy and service to customers.
Job Description

Reading Is Fundamental's (RIF) Marketing and Communications Department is in need of an Assistant Digital Media Archivist. Qualified candidates should have a background or strong interest in the archiving of digital media and should be knowledgeable of several digital media file types including .jpg, .mov, .avi, .pdf, .wmv, .psd, .tiff, .gif, .wav, .mp3, etc. Candidates should also be adept at using Excel and Outlook 2007 to track and report workflow. Experience using content management systems or digital asset management systems is a plus.

Candidate will be trained in use of RIF's new digital asset management system, Artesia 6.8 and will be responsible for importing several hundred digital media files with metadata (i.e. keywords and descriptions) into the system. Candidate may also be asked to complete other marketing and communications related duties as needed. Candidate will report directly to RIFÕs Marketing and Communications Coordinator.

This position would run for as long as the candidate is available. Work hours/schedule can be flexible-20 hours a week preferred. This is an unpaid position.
