Special Initiatives Coordinator

Purpose of Job
Coordinates major volunteer engagement efforts, such as RIF Ambassadors and Volunteer of the Year Awards (VOYA). Provides programmatic and administrative support to other special initiatives.
Scope
- Reports directly to the Senior Manager, Strategic Initiatives.
- Works closely with Chief Operating Officer of Programs, Regional Unit Managers, Program Resource Coordinators, and other Programs department staff.
- Coordinates efforts with Development, Marketing & Communications, Government Relations and IS departments.
- Interacts on a regular basis with RIF coordinators and other volunteers through e-mail, phone, social networking, and in-person gatherings.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate all aspects of Volunteer of the Year Award (VOYA) including planning, recruitment, selection, and event implementation.
- Lead committee of Programs department staff in developing and executing this annual recognition event.
- Manage project budget.
- Work with Development department to secure funding, obtain funder approval on necessary items, and provide information for post-event report to funder.
- Coordinate all material production, website updates, and media outreach efforts with Marketing & Communication.
- Coordinate all aspects of the RIF Ambassador initiative including planning, selection, and implementation.
- Lead committee of Programs department staff in developing and executing this volunteer empowerment effort.
- Manage project budget.
- Work with Development department to secure funding, obtain funder approval on necessary items, and provide information for post-event report to funder.
- Coordinate all material production, website updates, and media outreach efforts with Marketing & Communication.
- Assist with other volunteer engagement efforts.
- Match individual requests to volunteer with local programs in the field.
- Support the implementation of a recognition system for major anniversaries of RIF volunteers and programs.
- Support the Senior Manager, Strategic Initiatives in managing RIF's relationship with Kappa Kappa Gamma.
- Support the Multicultural Literacy Campaign as requested.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- BA/BS degree in related field required.
- At least 2 years of experience in a non-profit environment.
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and projects on a required timeline.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to effectively manage time and multiple projects.
- Ability to work cohesively with a variety of people across departments.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
