MetLife Foundation is a longtime supporter of RIF and has contributed generously since 1976. Over the last several decades, MetLife has funded a variety of innovative reading initiatives, including the Community Reading Challenge and Families Make the Difference workshops. The Community Reading Challenge focused on increasing parent and community involvement in local RIF programs. The Families Make the Difference workshops were designed to help parents understand their child’s literacy and educational development, and to help the schools involve parents in school practices, policies, and educational goals.

MetLife Foundation is currently the signature sponsor of RIF’s Program Excellence Honors Program, which recognizes 25 RIF programs from around the country for their outstanding achievements in promoting children’s literacy. Representatives from each program meet in Washington, D.C. for an opportunity to glean best practices and celebrate RIF’s important impact. Learn more about the 2008 PEH recipients.
