Sally was Stephen’s real-life pet before he created a book about her, Sally Goes to the Beach. Sally has been the subject of other children’s books, like Sally Goes to Mountains and Sally Goes to the Farm. Stephen illustrates his books with colorful woodblock prints, which he creates by hand. Stephen lives with his wife and three dogs in Vermont, where he’s also created a dog chapel where people can celebrate their bond with their pets.
