David McPhail David McPhail is best known for his animal characters in books like Pig Pig Grows Up and The Bear’s Toothache. He also draws inspiration from his four children, who sometimes come out in characters.
David grew up loving art, but worked several other jobs, including one as a shipping clerk in a book clearing house. It was there that he discovered children’s books. Since then, he’s illustrated more than 50 and is still going strong.
