URGENT: Act Locally Save RIF's Funding

RIF needs you to schedule visits to your congressional members’ local district offices the week of June 30. When you meet your representatives, ask them to save RIF in your community. For those of you with summer reading programs or year-round Head Start centers, this is a great time to invite members of Congress to visit your program.

Back-to-School Savings

RIF and Macy's "Book A Brighter Future" Campaign is a great opportunity for families to make a difference in their community and save money on back-to-school clothes and gear for their children!

All they have to do is stop by their local Macy's and give $3 to RIF. In appreciation, Macy's will give them a $10 off shopping pass for eligible purchases $50 or more.

Help us spread the word to families in your community. We have a variety of resources for you to choose from—including printable bookmarks and embeddable web banners.

Back-to-School Groove

Booklists, tips, and more! RIF's 2008 Back-to-School Guide has plenty of plenty of ways to get families and educators back into the school groove.

This year's guide features expert advice from Dr. Twila Liggett, founder of the Emmy award-winning TV series, Reading Rainbow.

Program Spotlight: Crestview Elementary in Cottage Grove, Minnesota

Crestview Elementary PTSA has been a Books for Ownership program for 20 years! Now, as a locally funded program, it proudly serves 450 children in grades K–6.

Earlier this year, Crestview's students raised more than $2500 for RIF and new library books. In celebration, their principal, Rich Romano, dressed as Snow White and visited each classroom. Romano's fairy tale journey was featured in the local newspaper. Read full story.

RIF proudly announces its recipients of the 2008 Anne Hazard Richardson RIF Volunteer of the Year Award, presented by The Coca-Cola Company. RIF recognizes these outstanding RIF coordinators for their dedication and service.
