Women's History Month Links
Women’s History Month officially began in 1987. This celebration dates back to 1911 when International Women’s Day was first organized by a German woman named Klara Zetkin. International Women’s Day gained momentum in the 1960s, and became Women’s History Week nationwide in 1981. Six years later, a group of women campaigned to have the week expanded and Congress created Women’s History Month, which is celebrated every March.
