Books You'll Love to Read Aloud, Adrienne Press, Parent Soup This brief, annotated list will get you started on reading aloud. Selections are organized by age group: newborns to preschoolers, 6- to 10-year-olds, 9- to 12-year-olds, 13 and up, and the whole family.

The Coretta Scott King Award Book List by the Coretta Scott King Task Force of the American Library Association's Social Responsibilities Round Table This award is presented annually to "authors and illustrators of African descent whose distinguished books promote an understanding and appreciation of the 'American Dream.'" This list includes award winners and honor books from 1970 through 2000. Many of these books make excellent read-alouds and set the stage for meaningful discussions about families, history, and character-related issues and concerns.
