The Arts Education Partnership The Arts Education Partnership (formerly the Goals 2000 Arts Education Partnership) is a national coalition of arts, education, business, philanthropic, and government organizations that promote the role of the arts in improving education. Coming Up Taller Awards http://www.cominguptaller.org/awards.html Begun in 1998 as a joint project between the President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the National Endowment for the Humanities, this Web site features programs that have received annual awards that foster the creative and intellectual development of children. Illustrative of these programs is Kaleidoscope, a Philadelphia preschool operated by The Settlement Music School, which teaches literacy through the arts. Harvard Project Zero Housed at the Harvard Graduate School of Education since 1967, Project Zero conducts research on infusing the arts into the curriculum. Howard Gardner, the theorist behind "multiple intelligences," is the longtime director of the program. Learning Through the Arts This site reports on the Canadian school reform initiative designed to infuse music and arts into the public school core curriculum. Start with the Arts Start With The Arts is an arts-based literacy program for 4- to 6-year-old children, including those with disabilities. The program was developed by Very Special Arts through government funding. Young Audiences/New York The Arts for Learning section of this Web site has a companion CD, video clips, and music to introduce viewers to its comprehensive educational program connecting community arts resources to K-12 curricula. Literacy and the arts is one of the program's chief components.
