C. Miki HendersonC. Miki Henderson

  • RIF alum years: 1970s

  • Now that you are grown up, what do you do? University Professor

  • Favorite childhood book: Mr. Pine's Purple House

  • Favorite RIF memory: I loved the RIF summer programs. I am dyslexic and didn't read until late in elementary school, but my parents knew reading was essential. My mother would take me to the library and help me pick out books. Then she'd read them to me and we'd mark them off the RIF chart. At the end of the summer I would get a book of my own to keep. Even though I couldn't read, RIF helped to instill a love for books in me. Now I am a university professor and I love to read!

  • What do you read now? Everything!

  • Are you involved with RIF now? I donate every year in the name of friends and family members. Next, I send them a Christmas card telling them I donated in their name.
