Do you remember when you first heard of RIF? Chances are good that it was through one of RIF's many public service announcements (PSAs) on TV. In the 1970s and '80s, these PSAs were an important part of RIF's success. People became familiar with RIF's name and purpose. Years later, people still remember RIF's classic PSAs!

Beaches
In this 1984 PSA, TV stars Michael Warren and Charles Haid of Hill Street Blues highlighted the importance of learning through books.

Carol Burnett
In 1977, comedienne Carol Burnett made one of RIF's most recognizable PSAs, in which she urged viewers to start local RIF programs.

Ed Asner
Legendary actor Ed Asner shot this 1979 PSA at UCLA with four kids. Asner encouraged the public to join their local RIF programs.

Juwan Howard
In 1996, NBA star and former RIF kid Juwan Howard let kids know that there's always time to read, no matter where you are.

Shadows
Actor Leslie Nielsen provided the voice-over for this "I am Somebody" PSA in 1973, which first introduced the RIF Bookmobile.

Shaquille O'Neal
NBA star Shaquille O'Neal took time in 1995 to show kids the joy of reading with Shaq-themed stories.
