Joshua's Story

The following is a story shared by a former RIF kid. Learn how RIF made an impact on Joshua's childhood.

Joshua's Letter:
RIF made reading fun for me when I was little. When I got too old to get RIF books, I became a RIF volunteer at my school and at my library wearing our RIF RIF costume (program mascot), helping with puppet shows, and reading to the younger kids during their RIF times.

I am a high school senior, and I will be going to college next year. I really think that RIF was one of the most positive things that happened to me. I grew up reading and owning books and knowing how important reading is because of my mom and because of RIF in our county. My Dad graduated from high school and could barely read until he met my mom and she helped him learn. She always worked at the library and told us how important it was, but RIF made it fun so my brother and I would like doing it. We still have every single book we ever got from RIF to this day. Reading has always been a family affair at our house. It changed our lives!
