Tanzania's Story

The following is a story shared by a former RIF kid. Learn how RIF made an impact on Tanzania's childhood.

Tanzania's Letter:
As I am sitting at my computer, my mind drifts back to the early 1970's. I was a young black girl growing up in rural Mississippi. I vividly remember the first time a RIF book mobile came to our school. When I climbed into the back of that truck and saw all those beautiful books, with beautiful titles, about beautiful people and places....I FELT ALIVE and BEAUTIFUL.

RIF helped to ignite the fire of learning in my soul. I remember holding those treasured books in my hand and feeling like the most special person in the world, because I was about to embark on a phenomenal journey.

As an adult, I have never forgotten what RIF did for me. I have tried to instill a love for reading and learning in my children, other people's children, and anyone who wants to expand their mind. At this present time, I am a writer, poet, and activist living in Atlanta, Georgia. Also, I have started a holistic tutoring service for K-12 students, in the hopes that I can inspire them to become lifetime readers and learners.
