RIF's Back-to-School Writing Contest: Winning Essay
The Huge Spider at Willis! By Liz J. Age 10 New Carrollton, OH
This is the story of my first day of school. I stretched, rubbed my eyes, and then my cat, Fritz leapt onto my lap. I got ready, ate breakfast, and caught the bus. We zipped to school. It was boring. Rules, discipline, all that boring stuff. I like my teachers, though. The day was pretty dull. It was, until a huge spider just waltzed into the classroom!!!
“Everyone remain calm! It won’t hurt you!” said our teacher.
Everyone was calm, until it chomped off Kyle's arm! After all the commotion that cased, it engulfed Kyle!! Just when we thought we would never see Kyle again, the spider spit him out, and left. Kyle went home to take a shower, because he was covered with green slime. When he came back, his hair was still green. Kyser’s arm never grew back. And no matter how much hair dye he used, Kyle’s hair never turned blonde again. I wonder what tomorrow has in store for me?
