Because of Winn-Dixie

Add this book to My Bookshelf

Kate DiCamillo

Candlewick Press

Summary: The summer Opal and her father, the preacher, move to Naomi, Florida, Opal goes into the Winn-Dixie supermarket -- and comes out with a dog. With the help of her new pal, whom she names Winn-Dixie, Opal makes a variety of new, interesting friends and spends the summer collecting stories about them and thinking about her absent mother. But because of Winn-Dixie, or perhaps because she has grown, Opal learns to let go, just a little, and that friendship -- and forgiveness -- can sneak up on you like a sudden summer storm.

I liked this book because it was about animals and how much agirl likes a dog that she adpoted off the streets and how she makes new friends. I also feel sorry for her because her mom left her. near the end during the party when all the people went inside I was scard that she would never find Winn-Dixie again! I was glad when he did and I love this book! Sincerely, Kepra Mcbrayer
