Speak follows the life of 14-year-old Melinda who has been ostracized by her classmates for calling the police on a party at the end of the summer. Melinda breaks down under the weight of a terrible secret shes keeping even from herself. Although disturbing, the Pennsylvania author manages to end the novel on a hopeful note.

I absolutely loved Speak. I couldn't put it down as soon as I started reading it. It was also good that some things were only told later on in the book, or that some words for the same things changed in the book. It showed how Melinda changed. I can't really explain why. But it was just a super book.

I thought Speak was a very strange, but interesting book. Once I started reading it, I just couldn't put it down. Melinda was a well-developed character and she was the perfect heroine in my eyes. In all, Speak is a winner for young adults everywhere!
