Annie's Uncle Marco goes on one of his mysterious trips, leaving her in charge of two sealed boxes on one condition: she must not open either one while he is away. But she is tempted...and soon she has unleashed the unspeakable. The creatures inside the box are crab-like and grotesque. And they possess a power Annie could never have imagined: the power to transmute time.

I LOVED this book. And right now my class and I are reading Sleator's other book: "House of Stairs". Oh, gosh! I love this book so much I read ahead of the class. While everybody's at chapter 3, I'm up at chapter 12! Hehe. They should most DEFINITELY make movies from Sleator's books. They're amusing, interesting, and keep the readers hooked.

This book is amazing. It takes you on a freaky adventure, which makes you think of the enemy as one of the good guys. The ending is outstanding. Mr. Sleator really knows how to set the scene. I think they should make a movie about this wonderful book!

This is the third William Sleator book I've read and they are all great!! I wish there was an ending where Henry turned out to be one of "them". I hope to write like Mr. Sleator someday.

I loved this book!! I wonder if Hollywood is ever going to make it into a movie because it would definitely sell really well! In this book you are wondering and waiting all through the book, and it leaves you asking questions well past the unforgettable ending.
