When Horace the elephant turns eleven, he celebrates in style by inviting his exotic friends to a splendid costume party. But a mystery is afoot, for in the midst of the games, music, and revelry, someone has eaten the birthday feast. The rhyming text and lavish, detailed illustrations each provide clues, and it's up to the reader to piece them together and decide whodunit!

My principle is making us find all the clues in each page. I think it is really fun deducting and decoding all the clues throughout the book. I think Graeme Base is a very smart author and very tricky!

I'm way over the age level, but when I did this mystery in 6th grade with my class, I had so much fun. It was mind-boggling, and I was eleven! I recommend this book for any aged person; it's a great way to spend your time!
