Leigh Botts has been author Boyd Henshaw's No. 1fan ever since he was in second grade. Now in sixth grade, Leigh lives with his mother and is the new kid at school. He's lonely, troubled by the absence of his father, a cross-country trucker, and angry because a mysterious thief steals from his lunchbag. Then Leigh's teacher assigns a letter-writing project. Naturally Leigh chooses to write to Mr. Henshaw, whose surprising answer changes Leigh's life.

I thought this book showed a lot of feeling and action to Mr.Henshaw and Leigh's dad. Someone keeps stealing the good stuff out of his lunch bag. So he made a burglar alarm which I thought was cool. I'm going to try to read another one of your books after I read Ramona Quimby Age 8 with my class. This is my favorite book and I felt I just needed to do a book report on it. I think I'm going to get an A+ on it.

I loved that in the book he was writing letters to Mr. Henshaw. Mr. Henshaw should have replied more (my opinion).
