Leigh Botts has been author Boyd Henshaw's No. 1fan ever since he was in second grade. Now in sixth grade, Leigh lives with his mother and is the new kid at school. He's lonely, troubled by the absence of his father, a cross-country trucker, and angry because a mysterious thief steals from his lunchbag. Then Leigh's teacher assigns a letter-writing project. Naturally Leigh chooses to write to Mr. Henshaw, whose surprising answer changes Leigh's life.

In the main part Leigh was trying to make a burglar alarm and that is something to do when your bored. The really sad part was that his dad lost his dog. In the end, his parents were divorced but they hugged. Leigh was writing to this author and he kept on writing to him everyday. Leigh met a friend and he also wanted a burgler
alarm too. This story was the best and I think everybody should read it.

My favorite part was when Leigh saw his dad and Bandit because dad gave Bandit to Leigh. He gave him back because he didn't want dad to be lonely. I felt great when I read this book. I would recommend it because my friends might like it to.

The part I liked best was when Leigh got to see his dad because he never really gets to see his dad a lot. I felt comfortable reading it because it was a great book. I would recommend it to a friend because it is a good book about a boy and his relationship with his dad and how he never gets to see him.
