When I read Maniac Magee I thought it was sad that Jeffery's parent died when he was young. If I was Jeffery, I would talk to my aunt and uncle about getting along and eating dinner together. When I read Maniac Magee, it inspired me to have fun.

I loved Maniac Magee! I was eager to read it because it takes place in my hometown, although many things have changed since the writing of this book. It is an excellent, brilliant, and imaginative book. It tells the story of unlikely friendships, and memorable lessons for life. If you haven't read it, read it TODAY!

When Maniac Magee was a little boy, his parents got killed in a wreck. He did not have anyone to take care of him after his parents died. So, he ranaway. At that time, they had a East End for blacks, and West End for whites. He lived on the West End. After he ranaway to the East End, he ran into a girl named Amanda Beale. She loved books. The Beales let Maniac Magee stay with them. Then one day in the park, he met a very nice old man named Grayson. Grayson said that Maniac could live with him. Grayson lived in a locker room. One morning, Maniac woke-up, and found that Grayson was lying in bed dead. He had died of old age. Maniac took all the money he had, and paid men to bury Grayson. Then he went back to live with the Beales, and stayed there for as long as I now.
