RIF: What was your favorite book when you were younger?
Emma Roberts: My mom read to me every night and my favorite book was "I Like Me!" [by Nancy Carlson]. It's really funny!
RIF: What do you like to read now?
ER: I try to read every genre but I really love teen books like the Gossip Girl series.
RIF: What was it like being on the set with your Aunt Julia (Roberts) as a child?
ER: I loved hanging out with her and the hair and makeup people. It was lots of fun.
RIF: Is that why you decided to become an actress?
ER: That’s part of it. Being on the set, such a fun and cool environment, certainly drew me to acting.
RIF: Now, years later, you are playing the role of teenage sleuth, Nancy Drew. Do you identify with her in any way?
ER: Yeah. We’re both ambitious, determined, and nosy (I like to know what’s going on!).
RIF: Nancy Drew’s style is preppy. What is yours?
ER: I don’t really have a name for my style. I just like anything that’s cute. I usually wear jeans, a cute shirt, and boots or high heels.
RIF: How does it feel to be 16 and have a Dooney & Burke handbag designed by and named after you?
ER: It’s really cool. When I was selected to be the new face of Dooney & Burke, they asked me if I wanted to design my own handbag. Of course I said yes!
During the design phase, I thought it would be cute to have a bag shaped like a hot dog. And that’s how the Emma Bag came about.
RIF: What do you do in your free time?
ER: I mostly hang out with friends I used to go to school with, either at my house or at the movies.
RIF: What is your favorite movie?
ER: I love movies so it’s hard to pick, but I guess my favorite would be Mean Girls. I’m also looking forward to the Hairspray movie that’s coming out this summer.
RIF: Do you have any fun summer plans?
ER: I’m going to England to shoot my next movie, Wild Child. I’ll be playing a mean and spoiled Malibu princess who’s shipped off to an all-girl, English boarding school. It’s going to be a funny film.
