About the Leading to Reading Project: Leading to Reading: A Reading Is Fundamental Literacy Toolkit for Families with Young Children is a resource that gives families the information and tools they need to support children's language and literacy development. Using the featured practices, families can help their young children become successful readers and writers. Leading to Reading covers five key topics in early literacy: How Literacy Develops, A Literacy-Rich Home, Reading Together, Talking Together, and On the Way to Writing. Leading to Reading is made possible through funding from the Star Schools Program through the Department of Education. However, those contents do not necessarily represent the policy of the Department of Education, and you should not assume endorsement by the Federal Government.
