RIF's Back-to-School Writing Contest Back to School graphic medium

Prizes
Judges will choose the top 10 stories and publish them on the RIF Reading Planet website. These 10 winners will receive a prize package that includes:

  • a writing journal
  • a popular kids book
  • a RIF Reading Planet frisbee
  • a RIF Reading Planet mousepad

 

Official Rules: 

1. ELIGIBILITY: This Contest is open only to legal residents of the U.S. who are ages 5 through 18. 

2. HOW TO ENTER:  All entries must be completed and received by RIF on October 1, 2004. Limit one entry per person. To complete an entry, stories must include a cover sheet with the following information:

  • Child's name
  • Child's age and grade level
  • Child's mailing address
  • Email address of the child's parent, guardian, or teacher
  • School name
  • Title of short story

Incomplete entries are void. All entries become the property of RIF and will not be acknowledged or returned.  RIF assumes no responsibility for lost, late, misdirected, or illegible entries.

3. JUDGING: All entries should be written in English with correct spelling and grammar. The story must be original and should not exceed 1,000 words in length. Stories will be judged by RIF staff, and stories will be judged on creativity, writing style, grammar, and spelling. Winners will be selected on or about October 27, 2004.

4. PRIZES: There will be ten winners selected and ten prizes granted.  The ten winning entries will be published on the RIF Reading Planet website. Winners will be notified via email with a Prize Permission Form for their parent, guardian, or teacher to fill out and mail to RIF with information needed for sending out the prize. RIF will send prizes directly to the winner.

5. GENERAL CONDITIONS: RIF retains the right to edit winning submissions prior to publication. Winners and their parents, legal guardians, or teachers grant RIF the right to use and publish their first name and winning paragraph online, or in any other media, in connection with the Contest.
