Reading Is Fundamental and Colgate-Palmolive Granted Halo Award™ for Literacy Campaign

May 30, 2007 (New York, NY)–Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) and Colgate-Palmolive Company were honored with a GOLD Halo Award for the Healthy Bedtime Habits campaign to encourage reading and brushing in young children.

Colgate-Palmolive and RIF, the nation's oldest and largest children's literacy nonprofit organization, launched the "Healthy Bedtime Habits" program in 2006 to help families make bedtime fun and healthy. The program provides resources for developing healthy brushing and reading habits and promotes children's literacy. The program website at www.colgatehealthyhabits.com also offers online tools and tips for parents and a customizable family brushing and reading log. The log tracks each child’s progress in building healthy bedtime habits. As the log is completed each week, the entire family earns points for fun rewards.

The Halo Award, awarded by the Cause Marketing Forum, is America’s highest honor for organizations involved in cause marketing. The "Healthy Bedtime Habits" children's literacy program received a GOLD Cause Marketing Halo Award for Best National/Local Integration at the fifth annual Cause Marketing Forum conference.

"The Colgate 'Healthy Bedtime Habits' campaign delivers a great message to parents and children about the importance of brushing and reading daily," said Carol H. Rasco, president and CEO of Reading Is Fundamental. "We appreciate and value the support that Colgate provides to children's literacy through this campaign."

Since 2004, Colgate-Palmolive has worked with RIF and community organizations throughout the country to provide thousands of books and bilingual resources to children in need.

"Our partnership with RIF has provided resources to parents and children across the country to help improve bedtime routines while they enrich the time the family spends together," said Marie Agnes Daumas, marketing director, Colgate-Palmolive. "We look forward to expanding our partnership with RIF through our ‘Healthy Bedtime Habits’ campaign and website."
