Materials: Your backyard, a park, or another safe, outdoors area. Paper and pencil or pen.

Go on an alphabetical scavenger hunt outside with your child. Find or spot an item for each letter of the alphabet. Large objects that your child can only see and not pick up are fine. If you can't find certain letters, go on short walks or trips to keep looking. Have your child write each letter of the alphabet down, and together you can write the corresponding object that you've found. Examples: A - acorn;  B - bird;  C - cat;  D - driveway.
