The Macy’s Collection allows students to experience stories and poems from diverse cultures and provides opportunities for students to gain both literary and cultural knowledge in a variety of text structures.
The extension and scaffolding activities for the books also address the Standards for Writing with emphasis on Text Types and Purposes and on Production and Distribution of Writing. At appropriate age levels, there are activities that address the standards for Research to Build and Present Knowledge. These extension activities also allow you to differentiate instruction for the students in your classroom and give you and your students choices.
