
RIFNet
RIFNet, RIF's distance-learning initiative, delivers literacy-based programming to educators, librarians, and parents nationwide via satellite television, videotape, CD-ROM, and the Internet.
Programming is distributed through the direct broadcast satellite (The Dish Network), local cable companies, distance-learning networks, and public television. Videotapes may be purchased for viewing in areas not served by the network.
Funded by a Star Schools grant from the U.S. Department of Education, RIFNet is the lead partner in a consortium with: the Connecticut-based Area Cooperative Educational Services, the American Association of Educational Service Agencies, and Phoebus Communications.

RIF Exchange RIF Exchange is a half-hour monthly television program designed to keep RIF coordinators, educators, librarians, and parents informed on the latest developments and trends in children's literacy.
Each show profiles exemplary literacy programs, offers practical tips and strategies for educators and parents, and highlights great books to share with children.
Every month during the school year RIF Exchange half-hour shows bring you:
- Hot reading topics;
- Leading literacy experts; and
- Great reading motivation activities for kids.
RIF in Action RIF in Action is a four-part video series distributed to each new RIF coordinator when he or she begins a RIF program. The videos give viewers an understanding of how to make RIF programs work more effectively in their communities. Each program is 30 minutes long and features supplemental information detailing specific tasks associated with running a RIF program. The topics covered in this series include:
- selecting books;
- planning and running book distributions;
- creating community partnerships; and
- fundraising strategies.
