USA Today "Web Kids' Pick"
By Jinny Gudmundsen
July 2003
"This site (RIF Reading Planet) offers a wide variety of reading activities for kids of all ages. In the Game Station section, kids can contribute to a group-authored online story. The site posts the beginning of a story, and kids submit suggested additions from which the rest of the story is created.

Super Sorter Machine is one of the wackier games. When a youngster answers a series of seemingly unrelated questions, the machine attempts to deduce the child's interests and then generates a list of appropriate books. Kid-testers were pleasantly surprised when the lists actually included some books they were interested in reading."

Yahooligans plain Yahooligans Cool Site of the Week

"This site by Reading is Fundamental offers librarians some good ideas. There are also several helpful reading resources, such as Writers' Blocks, that encourage kids to write and publish their stories online." USA Today Best Bet

USA Today Educator's "Bet Best" Website
May 2003
"This site provides a variety of childhood literacy information and activities for children, parents, and educators. They have collected resources and materials on many literacy topics to help prepare young children for reading and school-age children to make reading a habit."
