READING TAKES YOU PLACES: A Partnership between RIF and Coca-Cola

About the Partnership 
Reading Is Fundamental and The Coca-Cola Company joined forces in June 2001 to bring the joy of reading to America’s children and families and to help RIF offer critical literacy services to millions of the nation's neediest kids. Originally, RIF’s partnership with Coca-Cola was to last three years, ending in 2004; however, RIF is pleased to announce that the relationship has been extended by an additional two years.

Because low literacy is one of the most important issues facing the country, RIF and Coca-Cola are raising awareness about the importance of reading in homes, classrooms, and communities.  They are working together to serve millions of children who otherwise would not have access to books in their homes and classrooms.  RIF and The Coca-Cola Company believe that Reading Takes You Places and that all children should enjoy the journey to a brighter future.

The multi-faceted project provides critical literacy resources to RIF programs that have demonstrated need and are in good program standing. These resources include:

• Classroom Collections
• RIF Reading Planet
• Local Champions
  

About Reading Is Fundamental, Inc.
Founded in 1966, RIF develops and delivers children's and family literacy programs that help prepare young children for reading and motivate school-age children to read regularly.

In 2001, through a national grassroots network of more than 400,000 community volunteers, RIF programs provided 15 million new, free books and other essential literacy resources to more than 5 million children.
