Career Opportunity
The Vice President of Resource Planning will oversee and manage a broad range of operational functions within Reading Is Fundamental, ensuring the smooth and efficient delivery of programs and services. This leadership role encompasses Human Resource Management, Inventory/Book Operations, Office Management, and IT. The VP of Resource Planning will collaborate closely with senior leadership to drive operational excellence, optimize processes, and ensure that the nonprofit’s operations align with its mission and strategic goals.
Full-Time
Key Responsibilities:
Human Resources Management
- Develop, implement, document, and monitor HR policies and procedures in line with the organization's mission and legal requirements.
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and employee retention strategies.
- Manage goal setting and performance review processes
- Oversee compensation policies and procedures.
- Implement benefits administration for all staff including open enrollment, changes and advising staff as needed.
- Managing and executing the HR department's daily workflow, and overseeing employee records, job descriptions, and classifications ensuring an accurate Human Resource Information System in a manner which provides information for decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations, such as EEOC, MCHR, FLSA, and FMLA.
- Foster a positive organizational culture.
Inventory/Book Operations
- Oversee the management of RIF’s book operations and inventory, ensuring that this critical element of our mission operates seamlessly and efficiently, providing a wide range of books and reading resources that reflect the children we serve.
- Manage Book Operations team ensuring book accounts and reconciliations are managed in a timely and accurate fashion.
- Develop processes for inventory control and ensure timely replenishment of materials.
- Manage contracts with book distributors for both print and digital book procurement.
- Manage systems and workflows that ensure they align to RIF’s program management systems with our book distribution partners.
- Collaborate with department heads to assess inventory requirements and streamline procurement procedures.
Office Management & IT Operations
- Supervise team that supports the day-to-day operations of office facilities, ensuring a safe, productive, and welcoming environment for employees and visitors.
- Supervise facilities maintenance, safety protocols, and logistics for events and meetings.
- Develop and enforce office policies to ensure operational efficiency.
- In partnership with VP, Operations, ensure RIF’s technology infrastructure is secure, reliable, and scalable.
- Oversee cybersecurity practices to protect sensitive information and ensure compliance with data protection regulations.
- Collaborate with departments to assess and implement new technologies to support mission-related goals.

Compliance
- In partnership with the leadership team, oversee compliance of Board of Directors governance and appropriate, industry aligned, programmatic needs including; PCI, PII, FERPA, COPPA, volunteerism, and other program partner requirements deemed necessary by leadership.
- Ensure staff is notified about programmatic compliance issues and provide annual training on compliance topics, i.e. aspects of FERPA, COPPA, PII, employment and program-based requirements.
- Manage corporate insurance including annual renewals, ensuring appropriate levels of coverage, administering claims.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in operational leadership roles, preferably in nonprofit organizations.
- Strong knowledge and experience in Human Resources management, including recruitment, employee relations, and compliance.
- Extensive experience with office and facilities management, IT systems, and inventory control.
- Ability to develop and implement efficient systems, policies, and procedures.
- Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and guide cross-functional teams.
- Exceptional problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in operations or related leadership roles, with at least 3 years in a senior management position.
Salary, work environment, and benefits
- Annual Salary: $150,000
