ABOUT THE POSITION

Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) is the leading champion for children's literacy, empowering millions of children to read, learn and grow. We seek a full-time Marketing Manager to join our Marketing team in Washington DC. The Marketing Manager is responsible for implementing the project management processes for digital, print and video projects in support of RIF's strategic priorities including building brand and program awareness and engagement, educator engagement, and support for RIF fundraising, programs, products and special events. Responsible for day-to-day management, planning and smooth implementation of projects including educator newsletter, educator email, promotional tools and resources, marketing tactics, event planning and coordination, and the annual report. 
 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with the Director of Marketing & Partnerships to understand and inform marketing strategy to drive and achieve project objectives.
  • Manage writing, creative and production of weekly educator email.
  • Manage & coordinate writing, creative and production of quarterly educator e-newsletter.
  • Manage the day-to-day development and coordination of collateral, promotions, and communication tactics working closely with cross-functional internal teams and external vendors, from initiation to execution.
  • Create, implement and manage integrated project plans, develop timelines and monitor progress, including deadlines, specs, assets, budget, vendor coordination, status updates, approvals and final delivery.
  • Interface with and manage the work of graphic design, video, print, copywriting and other vendors.
  • Manage production of print and digital materials including coordinating specs, placing orders, and managing budget and deadlines with vendors.
  • Plan, coordinate and implement RIF's presence and the required deliverables for major RIF events, including National Book Festival and other trade/professional shows.
  • Collaborate with RIF partners in planning marketing campaigns and reviewing opportunities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 3-4 year's experience in marketing or project management role.
  • Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple, diverse projects simultaneously
  • Excellent written and verbal skills, including the ability to write and produce quality written materials and the ability to represent RIF in the community.
  • Capacity to work in a collegial environment as a member of a cross-functional team.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

  • Continuous standing, walking and sitting throughout the day.
  • Light local travel may be required.
  • Some light lifting of up to 25 pounds may be required.
  • Continuous typing and viewing of a computer screen.
  • Work performed at RIF's office; limited telework allowed.
