Johnny Appleseed was born in 1774. He was kind. He loved nature. He loved animals. He loved plants. He loved trees. He loved apples most of all.

Johnny grew apple trees. He loved apples. He loved trees.

Johnny wanted to move out west. He wanted to help the people that lived there. He wanted to plant apple trees for them.

Johnny started walking. He took apple seeds with him. He did not wear shoes. He wore old clothes. He wore a tin pot on his head. It was his hat. It was also his cooking pot. Johnny did not care how he looked. He only cared about helping others.

Johnny walked and walked. He walked hundreds of miles. He slept outside. He did not make a fire. Sometimes bugs fell into the fire. He did not want his fire to hurt bugs. He was kind to bugs. He was kind to all animals.

Johnny found a wolf. Its leg was stuck in a trap. Johnny saved the wolf. He fixed its leg. The wolf became Johnny’s friend. It went with him everywhere.

Johnny planted many apple trees. He helped them grow. He sold many of the trees. He sold seeds, too. The trees made people happy. So did the apples.

Johnny told good stories. He was kind. He was helpful. He was welcome everywhere. Everyone liked Johnny Appleseed. Johnny helped bring apple trees to the west. He planted lots of apple trees. Now apple trees grow all over.
