Amma's Sari

"Amma's Sari" by Sandhya Parappukkaran, illustrated by Michelle Pereira, tells the story of 6-year-old Shreya, a second-generation migrant navigating her dual identity between her home life and the outside world. Shreya loves her family and is proud of her cultural heritage, but she feels the weight of stares and whispers directed at her mother's sari in public. Through her experiences, Shreya learns to balance her love for her family with the challenges of fitting in, ultimately finding a way to celebrate her culture and the deep connections it represents​.
