Once a Mouse
Written and Illustrated by Marcia Brown
This fable begins when a mouse is rescued by a generous hermit after nearly being eaten. Luckily for the mouse, the hermit has magical powers and can turn the mouse into any animal to save it from bigger animals. At some point, though, the mouse must remember that, regardless of its current form, it was once a mouse.
