Every couple of years, eleven‑year‑old Diego has to pack up and start over because his dad is a U.S. Marine. Their newest move takes the family to Twentynine Palms, a quiet base in the hot, sandy California desert. With Radar, the family’s loyal dog, Diego works hard to adjust to his new home.

But then something happens that Diego never expected—something that forces him to be brave in a whole new way. Diego has always been strong, just like other military kids. Now he has to find out if his courage can rise to the challenge.
