Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) is seeking a hands-on, strategic Director of Digital Marketing to join our team! This role reports to the Vice President of Marketing & Partnerships and plays a pivotal role in shaping and executing RIF’s digital marketing strategy. This position is responsible for defining the organization’s digital marketing strategy, determine associated KPIs and goals, managing and optimizing our digital strategy across platforms to drive awareness, engagement, and conversions. You will lead email marketing, SEO/organic strategy, social media, AI search readiness, Google Ad Grants campaigns, paid digital advertising, content planning for web and blog channels, and the development of an integrated digital marketing calendar to align marketing, program, and development goals.
The ideal candidate combines digital marketing expertise and strategic vision with hands-on execution including exemplary writing and communication skills, with strong experience in stakeholder management, engagement marketing, and data analysis with the ability to leverage data-driven insights to optimize marketing outcomes. This role requires a collaborative professional adept at working across teams and with external partners to achieve measurable results and further RIF’s mission.

What You'll Do:
Search Optimization
- Lead strategy and execution for SEO, organic search, and AI search optimization to enhance discoverability and engagement across departments.
Digital Advertising
- Plan and execute paid digital advertising campaigns across platforms (e.g., Google, Meta, LinkedIn), optimizing for ROI and impact.
- Manage Google Ad Grants campaigns, ensuring full compliance and strategic utilization of grant funds.
- Oversee App Store keyword strategy.
Content and Web Marketing
- Manage the scheduling, production, and optimization of web promotional content aligned with organizational priorities.
- Develop and maintain a content calendar for the RIF blog, including writing, editing, and collaborating with internal and external contributors.
- Ensure all digital content reflects RIF’s brand voice, values, and literacy mission.
Email Marketing
- Serve as the primary liaison to RIF’s email marketing agency, supporting execution and performance of email marketing campaigns.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to optimize campaigns for mission, content, impact, and awareness goals.
Analytics and Insights
- Monitor and analyze marketing performance using tools like Google Analytics and platform-specific dashboards.
- Translate data into actionable insights and recommendations to improve campaign effectiveness.
SMS
- Lead the development and execution of SMS marketing campaigns that support key organization goals (e.g., promotions, product launches, engagement).
- Monitor SMS performance metrics (open rates, click-throughs, conversions) and adjust strategy based on data-driven insights.
Digital Marketing Calendar and Integration
- Develop and manage an integrated digital marketing calendar to align activities across departments.
- Serve as the digital marketing liaison between teams to ensure a unified voice and brand strategy.
- Coordinate with digital product managers to help drive strategic outcomes.
Social Media
- Oversee the brand’s social media strategy across all relevant platforms.
- Lead content planning and oversee the creation of engaging, on-brand posts that drive engagement and support marketing goals.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field.
- 8–10 years of digital marketing experience, preferably in a nonprofit or mission-driven environment.
- Demonstrated digital marketing expertise with deep experience in SEO, SEM, Google Ad Grants,social media, and paid digital media.
- Strong understanding of AI search tools and trends in digital discoverability.
- Proficiency in Google Analytics and digital advertising platforms.
- Exceptional project management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to craft strong brand messaging aligned for diverse audiences.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to analyze campaign performance data, and apply insights to optimize future strategies

Salary, work environment, and benefits:
- Annual Salary: Up to $95,000 - $110,000
