David Purvis is Chief Financial Officer of Reading Is Fundamental (RIF), where he leads finance and operations to support the organization’s nationwide literacy mission.

He brings more than 28 years of experience across nonprofit and global media organizations, with a track record of strengthening financial performance, improving operations, and guiding strategic growth. Prior to RIF, David served as CFO of WETA, a leading public media organization, and held senior finance leadership roles at Discovery Communications, including CFO for several major U.S. networks.

Known for translating complex financial data into clear insights, David partners closely with executive leadership and boards to drive sound decision-making and long-term sustainability.

David is passionate about connecting financial discipline with mission outcomes—ensuring that every dollar entrusted to RIF is managed responsibly and directed toward meaningful results for children and communities.

David holds a B.A. from the University of Richmond and is a Six Sigma Greenbelt.
