Terra McCrae-Greene

Terra McCrae-Simmons (formerly Greene) is an avid reader and creative writer who is deeply committed to K–12 literacy. She currently teaches Middle School Spanish and English as a Second Language within the District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) and serves as the AI Innovation and Education Liaison for District 12B in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. A passionate linguist and EdTech aficionado, Terra is a new mentor for the Technology Student Association. In her classroom, she integrates English instruction with game design, leveraging her collaboration with CODE.org to inspire creativity and engagement. 

From 2015 to 2020, Terra taught middle school Spanish in Maryland public schools, where she also worked as a homeschool educator for grades 6–12 through the Office of Home and Hospital Teaching. She has served as an adjunct professor of Family Literacy ESOL at a local community college and, prior to her classroom teaching career, worked as a Community Ambassador for Spanish-speaking students, collaborating with Pupil Personnel Workers to promote school attendance and academic achievement. 

Terra is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Instructional Systems and Workforce Development at Mississippi State University, where her research explores the intersections of literacy, educational technologies, and workforce development for English Learners.
