Books and Berries Event Brings the Joy of Reading to Bonita Elementary Students
Celebrating Children’s Literacy in Santa Maria
This week, more than 200 students at Bonita Elementary School in Santa Maria, CA celebrated the power of reading at a Books and Berries event. Hosted by Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) in partnership with Driscoll’s, the event highlighted the importance of children’s literacy while celebrating the joy of reading and sharing with Driscoll’s children’s book, A Sofia Special.
Building a Love of Reading
Students enjoyed engaging read-alouds and literacy-building activities before receiving fresh berries and selecting three free books to take home. By giving children book choice, RIF empowers them to build personal home libraries and encourages daily reading habits that support lifelong learning.
