Building a Culture of Reading: Denine Torr and Alicia Levi on Literacy Access

Erin Bailey sits down with Denine Torr of the Dollar General Literacy Foundation and Alicia Levi of Reading Is Fundamental to explore why literacy access is a shared community responsibility, discussing the long standing partnership between Dollar General and RIF, the specific barriers facing rural communities, and the critical importance of books in homes and schools. The conversation weaves in personal stories about the power of reading, family literacy traditions, and community programs, before closing with practical ways listeners can support literacy through their time, talent, and treasure, and a reminder of the possibilities that open up when children and adults have meaningful access to books and reading resources.
