35 Years of Magical Impact

This year marks a remarkable milestone - 35 years of partnership between RIF and UGI Utilities. Together, we have supported more than 370,000 children and nearly 740 schools , providing over a million books that have fueled curiosity, wonder, and imagination. For over three decades, UGI’s dedicated employees have contributed countless hours, sharing books, smiles, and the magic of reading. Each book distributed and every child inspired adds to UGI’s growing legacy, which is one built on magical moments and the lasting power of literacy.

Our friends at UGI are no strangers to magic, especially when it revolves around books. One needs to look no further than the Reading Wizard, UGI’s ageless and all-knowing reading mascot who makes reading come to life through the power of his books. But the magic isn’t limited to the Reading Wizard – it can be found in the little things UGI volunteers do to support children’s literacy, such as helping a child pick out their new favorite book or sharing words of encouragement to inspire reading passion.

From the very beginning of our partnership, UGI has recognized that helping children build strong reading skills early sets the groundwork for future success both in school and in life. Through our shared commitment, volunteers have visited schools to read aloud, help students select their own books, and participate in literacy-themed events that turn reading into a celebration. These moments remind us that the gift of reading is more than an academic skill - it’s a source of excitement, adventure, and possibility. The magic of reading is that it can open an unlimited number of opportunities through all that it touches, and because of UGI’s steadfast dedication to children’s literacy, thousands of young readers have been equipped to explore these possibilities.
